Day THIRTEEN

Oh, god. This smell!!! Dark flies are surrounding me. I have a feeling I know why but I am not sure. It's not the kind of flies that I know from the office when the three day old peel of a banana is left in the bin because my colleauge constantly scares away the sanitary people who want to clean our office. I remember last time he ran around with a chainsaw and a mask chasing off the guy. Thank god it was not tuesday, because the tuesday lady has still not recovered from the Hannibal Lecter performence of the week before...

Hmmm. Strange. Why am I writing about office stuff? Oh-oh. Have I missed my plane? I hope not. Anyway, let's run - just to be on the safe side. Good-Bye Brazil! Too bad I have to leave - I am only glad I will have this blog to remember everything once I am back home.

If only the smell would go away ...

Day TEN

In case you were wondering why there were no posts in the last two days - check out this excerpt from Pop-Eye (the local fishermen magazine):

A car salesman's dream come true! German tourist Mike G. would never have thought of making a triple-catch when deciding to spend his holyday in Brazil. He and his geeky friend Joschi W. agreed on a bet out of pure boredom on how long Mike could wear his single work-related clothing (a pale blue €79 shirt)!
For six days of unprecendented stinking Joschi promised to set up a meeting with the one and only David Hasselhoff!

Unfortunately I could not memorize the rest of the article because David made me pack the fish in it...

Anyway - as you can see on the photo, it really happened!!! I met David and we became friends! The fish was trying to attack children and elderly people swimming in the sea. But David and I teamed up to become the boldest Baywatch team ever and kept the situation under control. When this guy ran to us and told us that a giant fish was going for the people in the shallow waters, we did not hesitate.
We strangled the bastard. Then we went for the fish.
Only a minute afterwards the guys from Pop-Eye turned up and we boasted with our bravery and good looks (check out the sixpacks...)

Pity that during the incident my shirt was lost. I just hope it was taken by the waves and not by some weird local groupie. How disgusting!

Mitch, this is for you:

Some people stand in the darkness
Afraid to step into the light
And some people need to help somebody
When the edge of surrender's in sight

Don't you worry
It's gonna be all right
Cause i'm always there
I won't let you out of my sight

I'll be there
Never you fear
I'll be there
Forever and always - I'm always here

Within us we all have the power
Though sometimes its so hard to see
That instinct is stronger than reason
Tut its just human nature to me

Don't you worry
It's gonna be ok
Cause i'm always there
I won't let you out of my sight

I'll be there
Never you fear
I'll be there
Forever and always - I'm always here

Day SEVEN

After the embarassing party full of weirdos last night fortunately there was some kind of mock-up carneval party in Rio and sure - I had a few cocktails there. I have no idea who this guy was - but we sure had fun. Pity that he took my favourite t-shirt with him. I would have needed it for the next week of the trip.

Day SIX

It's party time!!!!

I let my charity-side hang out at this white night party in downtown Rio for the vegan bats of brazil. You can't see it on this picture but this is actually a cave that used to belong to batman, who sponsored the event! I am not sure if this was the batcave or just another lair but who cares! Lot's of weirdos around so we could blend in perfectly! Check me out doing Capoeira for the camera!

Day FIVE

Something is wrong with my camera so no pictures this time. It has been raining all day and so we went inside playing cards. Doppelkopf can be so much fun! Especially with the local samba club. The way they say Stich and Herz makes me feel groovy all over! The only bad thing was when I called a Wildsau they wanted to kick the sh** out of me - luckily Joschi negotiated and we got the situation under control. So we had to dance with them for hours to calm them down... (*grins)

Oh, almost forgot. Joschi gave in on the shirt-thingie!!! When he heard the salsa club was coming over he agreed to take the morning hours as a full day and so the mantest was fulfilled, I could take a shower and will meet the Hasselman! What a beautiful day ...

Day FOUR

Hi muchachos y muchachas!

For most of us pale-skinned gringos, it's an act of utter insanity on the first day to set foot on the beach during the peak afternoon sunshine. So I went to the beach early. I enjoyed the clear air and an hour or so of tanning in the softer morning rays. Then I headed up to the Corcovado and saw Rio laid out below me in all its glory. I stopped in for a quick lunch at any of Rio's countless kilo restaurants, then in the afternoon went in to Centro to explore what I've seen from on high. I wandered old Rio, making sure to check out the Uruguaiana shopping district, and poked my head in any one of countless baroque churches. I finished my walk with a nice cold chopp (beer) at a sidewalk cafe in Cinelândia, or in the countless patios in the Arcos do Teles. I had dinner back in the Zona Sul, at one of the top-notch restaurants in Leblon. As it is a Saturday in pre-Carnaval season, I went to see a samba school rehearsal. Afterwards I found a botequim or restaurant that played music and enjoyed Rio until the wee hours.

ps: Only two more days of stinky-Mike for Hasselmann!!!

Day THREE

Hello Everyone!

We made it to Rio!!!

By the way - did I mention my friend Joschi is a far relative of the Hasselmann? We have a mantest going on. If I can keep this shirt on for 6 days in a row, he will introduce me the Mr. Hasselhoff himself!!!!!!! I am sooo excited - and stinky but it is worth it :-) Hey Kit, prepare for battle!

Day TWO

Hi!

today I met Joschi. Isn't he cool? He tried to convince me to also take my shirt off but oh no. I don't think so! I mean I have kept it on for 3 days now and so I won't take it off for some stranger!

Anyway tomorrow we go to Rio. I am sooo looking forward to not having to listen to the waterfall 24/3 any more. It is so nerve-wracking. We are goinf to take the six-o'clock llama and arrive there the next day. See you later!

Day ONE

Hi!

Oh my god. I feel soooo bad. I am tired and everything. After a long flight yesterday I was alive like coo-coo-crazy and now this! I am sooo tired. My friends tell me it's a jetleg but my feet don't hurt so I don't think so.
Well, anyway - check out this cool photo of a relict of the life I am taking a vacation from. It was taken just 20 seconds before I dropped it into the falls. I was told it will return to me in 10 days by itself. Well - let's wait and see!

I spent the afternoon lurking around the falls without too much success. Hello from Brazil!
